Transformers are a special type of equipment used to change the voltage indicators in AC power grids. Its operation is based on such a phenomenon as electromagnetic induction – the primary winding is connected to a current source, after which a magnetic field begins to generate in it, and an electromotive force arises in the secondary windings.

There are different types of transformers according to the number of phases, the number of windings, the type of insulation and the type of cooling. A common classification of devices is based on where the magnetic system (core) is immersed, that is, by the type of cooling.

In this case, transformers are distinguished:

  • Oil-based – the core is immersed in transformer oil with dielectric properties (it is located in the device case)
  • Dry-epoxy is poured into the winding
  • Liquid – various organic liquids are used as a cooling medium, that is, non-combustible dielectrics

Transformers are classified according to the following principles:

  1. Purpose (laboratory, protective, intermediate, measuring).
  2. Voltage (low and high voltage).
  3. Installation method (portable, stationary, outdoor and indoor, support, bus).
  4. Number of stages (single-stage and multi-stage).
  5. The nature of the winding insulation (dry, compound, oil-paper).
  6. Type of cooling (oil-cooled, oil-cooled + air blast, forced-circulation oil-cooled, air-cooled (ie dry transformers)).

We offer the following types of Transformers for delivery:

Power transformers. They differ among themselves in the number of phases, indicators of the rated voltage. Purpose to change the voltage in lighting networks, power supply of equipment, power systems.

Instrument transformers. They are used to monitor the performance of the voltage, phase or current in the primary circuit. The operation of the device has practically no effect on the measured network.

Autotransformers. The windings in these transformers are galvanically interconnected. The transformation ratio is not high, so the unit is relatively small and inexpensive. They are installed in voltage stabilizers, relay protection systems, start-up of large electrical installations operating from an alternating current network.

Pulse transformers. They are equipped with a ferromagnetic core, which changes voltages and current pulses. This type of equipment is used in electronic computing devices, radar systems, pulse communication, as the main meter in electricity meters.

Peak transformers. They convert sinusoidal voltage to pulsed voltage. Separating devices differ from the others in that the primary winding in them is not connected with the secondary ones. The purpose of the device is galvanic isolation of electrical circuits.

Matching transformers. They match the resistance indicators of the circuit stages in such a way that the signal is practically not distorted. The matching transformer between the working sections creates galvanic isolation circuits.

Dual choke. It is equipped with two identical windings. Due to the mutual induction of the coils, the choke has excellent efficiency, although it has standard dimensions. Used in sound engineering, as power supply filters. To store information, a transfluxor is usually used – a transformer with a large remanent magnetization of the magnetic circuit.

Voltage transformers. They transform the voltage, changing it to the desired value.

Current transformers. They convert the primary current to the level required for the operation of the device.
